AJK Welcomes the Allocation of the RTK Budget by the Caretaker Government
The Association of Journalists of Kosovo (AJK) welcomes today’s decision by Kosovo’s caretaker government to allocate the budget for the Public Broadcaster, RTK, from the savings category.
This decision is a long-overdue relief for RTK’s 700 employees and their families. AGK regrets that the situation of prolonged delays in salary payments has occurred twice within the same year. Today’s decision is also only a temporary solution.
AJK calls for ensuring stable financing for RTK to be a priority in next year’s new legislature, as well as resolving the issue of property through a new law.
AJK also urges respect for the editorial independence of the Public Broadcaster and calls for an end to political pressure from the Government and the political party Vetëvendosje.
