AJK Condemns the Language and Behavior of the Mayor of Pristina Toward Reporteri Journalist Leonora Kolukaj
The Association of Journalists of Kosovo (AJK) considers unacceptable the behavior and language used by the Mayor of Pristina, Përparim Rama (LDK), toward Reporteri journalist Leonora Kolukaj.
The journalist attempted to ask Mr. Rama a question before a press conference but was met with inappropriate conduct from him and his staff. Rama can be heard referring to the journalist as “loçkë” (a term roughly translating to "babe" or "sweetie"), a term he has repeatedly used in a sexist tone toward female journalists. Furthermore, the journalist was also physically pushed by his team.
AJK strongly condemns the mayor’s and his staff’s actions and calls on him to respond to questions of public interest and to treat journalists and media outlets in a professional and respectful manner.
