Government of Kosovo to host more Ukrainian journalists
The Government of the Republic of Kosovo has decided to host more Ukrainian journalists in Kosovo as a result of the ongoing war in Ukraine.
During today's meeting, the government approved changes to the amendment of the decision made in 2022, which originally allowed 20 Ukrainian journalists to seek shelter in Kosovo.
Prime Minister Albin Kurti announced that the number of Ukrainian journalists, along with their immediate family members, who will receive temporary protection in Kosovo will now be increased.
The Association of Journalists of Kosovo applauds the government's decision to provide shelter to more Ukrainian colleagues in need.
Currently, within the framework of the "Journalists in Residence - Kosovo" program, there are 13 Ukrainian journalists and one Afghan journalist residing in Kosovo. Additionally, five Ukrainian and four Afghan journalists have also benefited from this program.
The Journalists in Residence - Kosovo program, initiated by the European Center for Press and Media Freedom (ECPMF), is being implemented by AJK with financial support from the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, and the Hannah Arendt initiative.
