CEC Denies Accreditation to Several Albanian-Language Media Outlets
At its Thursday meeting, the Central Election Commission (CEC) failed to approve accreditation for a small number of Albanian-language media outlets. Among those affected are Reporteri.net, based in Pristina, and Mitropol in Mitrovica.
The Association of Journalists of Kosovo (AGK) strongly objects to the denial of accreditation for these media outlets, which was made without any legal basis or explanation, and calls on the Election Complaints and Appeals Panel (ECAP) to overturn the CEC’s decision.
The CEC’s decision to deny accreditation to all Serbian-language media, as well as to several Albanian-language and international media outlets, is unlawful, unacceptable, and poses a serious threat to media freedom in Kosovo.
AGK urges the CEC to urgently revise its decisions to ensure that all media teams can work freely and without obstruction on election day.
