Threats against lives and limbs of journalists, Kajtaz Gecaj, Skenderaj, 20.12.2019
Kajtaz Gecaj, the correspondent of ZËRI Newspaper, was threatened by the Head of the Directorate of Culture in Skenderaj, Ramiz Shala The threat came as a result of the article “This year the municipality of Skenderaj paid four portals, none local” written by Gecaj. “A few moments ago, Ramiz Shala, The Head of Culture Directorate threatened to attack me physically if I mention his name in the newspaper once again, even though his colleague, Kastriot Gashi, mentioned it.” – wrote Gecaj on his social account on Facebook. The case was reported to the Kosovo Police, which at present is on the investigation phase. “The police have taken immediate action, while today at noon, the official from the municipality went to the police station at Skenderaj and there he was interviewed. Following the interview, the State Prosecutor was notified, who instructed that the case remain for information and that investigative actions would be taken continuously to determine if any penal act existed.” – was said in the Kosovo Police response addressed to AJK.
