Threats against journalist Valdrin Daci, Pejë, 11.06.2025

The Association of Journalists of Kosovo (AJK) has been informed by the news portal "Peja në Fokus" that insulting and threatening language was directed at journalist Valdrin Daci by Tahir Shala, Director of Agriculture in the Municipality of Peja, during an official event today.

According to Daci, who was the only media representative present, he was subjected to verbal threats and offensive language from the municipal official in a public setting, witnessed by many attendees.

The AJK considers this behavior unacceptable and a direct attack on press freedom and journalists’ safety.

The Association calls on Peja’s Mayor, Gazmend Muhaxheri, to publicly condemn this conduct and take appropriate action against the official involved. The AJK also urges all public officials to refrain from attacking journalists and the media.
